Traffic safety is a major concern in Virginia. In 2012, 775 motorists were killed and more than 67,000 others were injured as the result of 123,579 Virginia car accidents.

To help combat this problem, the city of Roanoke will be hosting an upcoming safety event focusing on educating the public about the importance of highway safety. The Rally for Road Safety will take place beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the Tanglewood Mall parking lot.

During the event, Virginia Tech affiliates will be demonstrate the latest in vehicle and pedestrian safety technology. Safe Kids Southwest Virginia will also be present, offering free car seat safety inspections to parents of young children. Furthermore, RIDE Solutions plans to hold a bicycle rodeo to teach bicycle riders safety training, while also offering free helmets to those in need.

The event is free to the public.

The Roanoke personal injury lawyers with Skolrood Law Firm know the dangers that accompany traveling on the road and encourage all citizens to come out to learn more about what they can do to keep themselves and their families safe!
