As summer begins to settle in across southern Virginia, there are a growing number of motorcycles cruising the roads. This means it’s important to look out for bikers to prevent crashes.
This was made evident during a recent Roanoke motorcycle accident. Reports indicate the crash happened at around 9 a.m. on Monday, May 12, at the intersection of Brandon Avenue and Carlton Road.
An article from The Roanoke Times explains a vehicle failed to recognize the motorcycle at a stop sign and struck the bike and rider. The motorcyclist was injured and the driver of the car was cited for causing the accident.
The accident highlights the need for both motorcyclists and drivers to learn what they can do to prevent motorcycle crashes. One of the best places to do that is at the upcoming ABATE of VA State Rally. The motorcycle event will take place from June 20-22 at Paradise Lake Campgrounds in Spout Spring, Virginia. The event will feature vendors, music, camping, and food as well as groups promoting motorcycle safety.
